Tell us about a typical day at The DAC for you?
Greg Wild: I would describe a day as “organized chaos.” We have developed a very organized schedule of preventative maintenance, consistency checks, punch lists, and projects that keep us continually busy. On top of that, The DAC building often surprises us with eight to 10 new items we aren’t expecting on a daily basis. So, we just keep it all in front of us and check things off as they come. I am extremely fortunate to work with an amazing team that can pivot and adapt to these situations, and, honestly, I think we all love the challenge.
Tell us a bit about yourself — where did you grow up and where were you before The DAC?
GW: I grew up in Illinois – born in Cicero and lived there until high school when the neighborhood got pretty bad and we moved to the suburb of Bolingbrook. I attended the University of Illinois and received a degree in biomechanics and became a Certified Athletic Trainer and Tactical Strength and Conditioning Facilitator. I went on to work in the Fitness and Athletics industry for most of my career, holding just about every position in that industry. While working with Fitness Formula Clubs in Chicago, I was given many opportunities by its amazing owner to increase my skillset; I started running the facilities and became a General Contractor and Project Manager for the company, which I did for more than 15 years. I would go on to be the Regional Operations Director for Colorado Athletic Clubs, before finally landing at The DAC. I enjoy the variety and the unique challenges that facilities and construction provides.
What is your favorite area of the building?
GW: Our second floor Coworking Space is certainly a contender. It is beautiful, and it features the level of fit and finish I hope to continue to bring to The DAC. I also love the green stairwell off the Glenarm lobby.
What’s your favorite meal?
GW: Meat! And of course, any meal shared with my family.
When you are not working, what do you do in your free time?
GW: I love outdoor activities like solo backcountry trips, as well as survival and tactical training. I also volunteer at a horse rescue. When indoors I’m an avid reader, preferring non-fiction books as I can’t stand reading dialog!
