As I gather my thoughts to put together my last President’s message, a lot of things come rushing to my mind. So many good things have taken place at The DAC over the last two years: participating in committee meetings, attending many social events with my wife Mary Jo, and having the great privilege of meeting and getting to know so many of you. Overall, these last two years as your President have been interesting, challenging and exciting. I gained great insight and better appreciation of the history of The Denver Athletic Club. And I learned that no one person can do this job alone.
I would like to thank:
The Board of Directors. We worked well together over the last two years and sometimes had to make some hard decisions to move The DAC forward. We did not always agree, but once decisions were made we came together as a Board and supported each decision and moved forward for the betterment of The DAC.
The many Committee Chairpersons and Committee Members who gave hours of thoughtful service to the Club. These members are the future of The DAC leadership.
All the fantastic staff at The DAC, who give incredible service to our Members and support all DAC activities. To the staff in all departments – the garage, front desk, childcare, food & beverage, catering and events, kitchen, bar, cleaning, maintenance, finance, personnel, IT, athletic trainers and all the management team – thank you.
The Members of the Club, and especially those past presidents who took time to share and express their thoughts and opinions with me.
And, a big thank you for many positive changes goes to our new General Manager, Mike Kurowski, and the team he has brought together. From his first day on the job, he has set The DAC in a positive direction as we head into our 140th Anniversary next year. We have a fantastic GM, and the team he has assembled is a testament to their continued shared belief in the mission of excellence in the Club.
I would like to add a special thanks to all who contributed to the upkeep and improvements of our building: completing our new Coworking Space, upgrading the security and infrastructure of the parking garage and completing the childcare Center addition.
Finally, my wife, Mary Jo, who has been my partner at The DAC events and behind the scenes.
There will soon be a new President of the Board along with some new Board members. The new Board of Directors will undoubtedly be experienced, positive, and ready to tackle challenges. I ask you to support them as you have supported me, in the good times and the difficult times. The new Board will need your help. Sign up for a committee. Volunteer to help your Club. Share your talents and ideas. It is a great way to contribute to the Club and meet new friends.
Thank you all for letting me serve as your President. As I sign off, I send an especially warm welcome to the 1,172 new Members who have joined The DAC in the last two years.
